Nachhaltigkeit

HoWe Wurtswaren KG aligns all its actions along the value chain with sustainability aspects, focusing on the topics of environmental and climate protection as well as social responsibility. The firm anchoring in the quality management system is an important aspect and ensures sustainable actions from a social, economic and social point of view. Environmentally friendly and resource-saving production methods and an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 are part of our self-image, as are the renunciation of palm oil, the reduction of plastic packaging material, the gradual switch to FSC-certified cardboard packaging and to packaging made of mono-material, and last but not least, the expansion of the organic product range.

We are committed to the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015, which set the climate target of limiting global warming to below two degrees Celsius and preferably below 1.5 degrees Celsius.  Subsequently, in 2019, the EU committed to climate neutrality by 2050.

We support these set climate targets and are implementing measures to achieve climate neutrality ourselves. Our efforts to date are already bearing fruit. For example, from 2021 we will be 100% climate neutral with our self-generated and purchased energy (Scope 1 and 2) with our production. This has been achieved with the following measures:

– Construction of our own photovoltaic system

– 100% electricity procurement from regenerative production

– Climate protection projects in the form of reforestation campaigns with ClimatePartner in Peru and ClimatePartner in Germany

In the next step, we will also extend our efforts to our indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 3).
